According to Jim Harter in the December 20th, 2017 Gallup State of the Global Workplace report, "Dismal Employee Engagement is a Sign of Global Mismanagement," "85% of employees are not engaged or actively disengaged at work."
Gallup's statistics indicate that only 15% of employees are engaged! With employees being the soul of the workplace, "the economic consequences are approximately $7 trillion in lost productivity." This startling statistic indicates it is time for a major change!
People who work from the heart. They are passionate, take initiative and are emotionally connected to the organization.
A sizable percentage of people who put time in and do what they have to do. Work is just a job. They work without energy or passion.
These people are unhappy and spread discord and discontent
Employee engagement is when employees have deep emotional commitments to both the company and its goals. Research shows companies see increased productivity, higher sales, and lower turnover when their employees are engaged.
Employee experience is the path to get to the outcome of sustained engagement. We must measure and monitor it, so we can learn and make adjustments. This is a continuous journey that we must focus our efforts on, as at any given time, changes will occur and affect the experience of the people.
